Misch Kohn made this print, "Season's Greetings," as a personal holiday card. Kohn was deeply affected by his experiences as a Jewish man during World War II, and created work which often explores themes of alienation, identity, and social justice. Here we see a complex, surreal composition, blending domestic scenes with dreamlike imagery. The juxtaposition of familiar objects, such as a rolling pin, with floating figures and distorted perspectives, suggests a world where the boundaries between reality and fantasy are blurred. The artist plays with traditional representations of domesticity and challenges conventional gender roles. Look at the ambiguous figures, which seem to defy simple categorization. Kohn invites us to question societal norms and expectations, prompting us to reconsider our own assumptions about identity and belonging. While deeply personal, Kohn's work resonates with broader societal concerns about power, marginalization, and the search for meaning in a complex world.
