Editor: This is an untitled piece by Patrick Heron. The materials look like pastels or maybe oil sticks on paper. It feels very domestic and intimate. What strikes you about it? Curator: I'm drawn to the materiality itself – the visible strokes, the layering of pigment. How does this process of applying color and form reflect Heron's engagement with his immediate environment, with the everyday act of seeing and representing? How do you think he consumes his world? Editor: That's a great point. It's like he's dissecting and rebuilding the scene. Curator: Exactly. And consider the labor involved, the physical act of applying the medium. This challenges traditional notions of artistic skill and elevates the process itself. I find it fascinating. Editor: I’ll definitely look at Heron’s work differently now.
