Sattar Bahlulzade made "Shahdag" with paint and canvas, and just look at the energy! The gestural marks, they're like little dashes of vibrant color, mostly blues, greens, and whites, swirling across the canvas, creating this incredible sense of movement. I can almost feel him at work, standing there, brush in hand, lost in the act of painting. I imagine he started with broad strokes, laying down the basic forms, and then gradually built up the details, layer after layer. See how the paint is applied, kind of thin, kind of textural. It's almost like he's trying to capture not just the look of the landscape, but the feeling of it, too. The way he's handled the paint reminds me a bit of Van Gogh, or maybe even some of the early Impressionists, but with his own distinct voice. It’s like one big conversation across time, isn’t it? It’s all so ambiguous, and that's what makes it so beautiful. It's a reminder that painting is a process of exploration, always open to new possibilities.
