Editor: This print, by Francis Barlow, showcases several birds in a detailed, almost scientific way. I’m struck by the strangeness of these creatures, and how they seem both familiar and otherworldly. What do you make of it? Curator: It's fascinating, isn't it? Barlow clearly had a keen eye for observation. To me, it’s as if he captured these birds mid-thought, each lost in its own avian world. The stark lines and open composition draw us into their silent drama. Editor: It really does capture a moment in time. Thanks for sharing your perspective. Curator: And thank you for spotting the strangeness, it's a reminder of how wonderfully diverse our natural world is.
