Editor: This is "As of Commodus," a coin, I guess you'd call it, by Commodus himself. It’s small, a bit worn, and makes me think of forgotten empires. What do you see in it? Curator: It whispers of power and decay, doesn't it? Commodus, the emperor who fancied himself a Hercules. The coin, once gleaming, now bears the patina of centuries, a tangible link to a man who arguably hastened Rome's decline. The image on the coin reflects his efforts to self promote through imagery. It's fascinating how such a small object can contain so much history and hubris. Editor: Hubris, definitely! It’s a humbling reminder that even emperors turn to dust. Curator: Exactly! And that even the smallest artifact can tell an epic tale.
