"The Baptism of Christ" is an etching by the Dutch artist Jan Muller, created in 1590. The artwork depicts the moment of Christ's baptism by John the Baptist in the River Jordan, surrounded by a multitude of angels in the sky. The scene is filled with dynamism and drama, with a multitude of figures arranged in a complex composition. Muller's masterful use of hatching and cross-hatching creates a sense of depth and volume, bringing the figures to life. The work is considered an excellent example of Mannerist etching, a style characterized by its emphasis on movement and detail, and showcases Muller's talent as a printmaker. "The Baptism of Christ" is now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
