Aagje Tiket created this small textile work with embroidered blue flowers. The piece is contained within a tight rectangular border, with the embroidery design also adhering to an ovoid format. The composition features a central, abstract floral motif from which more recognizable flowers branch out symmetrically, emphasizing a structured, almost heraldic organization. Notice how the texture of the unbleached linen ground contrasts with the raised, tactile quality of the blue embroidery. The blue thread, which is both the outline and the fill, uses a limited palette to create depth and shadow through varied stitching patterns. The rigid symmetry and formal structure may suggest underlying themes related to order, nature, and the decorative arts. However, the hand-crafted nature of the embroidery introduces an element of human imperfection, disrupting any sense of absolute symmetry. The visual tension between the structured design and the organic, slightly irregular execution encourages continuous reinterpretation.
