Max Laeuger’s “Vase” (c. 1900) is a striking example of Art Nouveau style ceramics. The tall, slender form is adorned with stylized floral motifs in vibrant colors, including yellow, orange, green, and blue, against a deep blue glaze. Laeuger, a German-born artist, was active in the United States from 1886 until his death in 1952. This vase, currently housed in the Minneapolis Institute of Art, reflects the movement’s emphasis on organic forms and decorative patterns inspired by nature.
