"Fille Turque, jouant du Tehegour" is an etching from a series of prints called *Recueil de cent estampes représentant differentes nations du Levant* by Jean Baptiste Vanmour. The print shows a young Turkish woman in traditional garb seated on a cushion, playing a stringed instrument. The detail of the room and her attire reflects the artist's fascination with Ottoman culture and life in the Levant. Vanmour was a French artist who spent time in Constantinople and the Ottoman Empire during the early 18th century. He drew upon his observations to create this realistic portrait of Turkish life.
