Skystudier og notater 1853

"Skystudier og notater" is a pencil sketch on paper by Danish artist Anton Melbye. It depicts a landscape scene of clouds, trees, and a body of water. This is a small scale work measuring only 153 mm in height and 110 mm in width, and it is housed at the SMK - Statens Museum for Kunst. Melbye is best known for his marine paintings and seascapes, and his keen observation of nature is apparent in this study. Created in 1853, the sketch demonstrates Melbye's process of capturing the fleeting beauty of the natural world.
