Pablo Palazuelo made Signo, with ink on paper. Just imagine the black ink pooling on the page as it dries. I wonder what it was like for Palazuelo to make it? Did he have a clear idea of the finished piece, or did it grow, bit by bit, organically? You know, painting is just like that, you start with something in mind, but things start to happen on the canvas that you didn't expect, and then the painting takes over! The interplay between the solid forms and the white space makes for a dynamic image. This work can sit comfortably next to a Joan Miró, or even some calligraphy. All these artists are connected, each one building on the other’s creativity. It’s an ongoing conversation across time.
