Mariojosé Ángeles painted *Taposiris magna* with layered washes and pooling colors. I imagine the painting coming into being slowly, each layer revealing new shapes, new forms. Look at the way the blue seeps and spreads, like watercolor on wet paper. What was Ángeles thinking as they made it? Maybe it was about ancient things being reborn or reinvented. The whole thing is a process, a kind of archeological dig through paint. It reminds me of the color experiments of Helen Frankenthaler or even the biomorphic forms of Joan Miró, but seen through Ángeles’ own lens, of course. Painting is a conversation across time, each artist responding to what came before while bringing their own perspective. Painting embraces ambiguity, opening up multiple interpretations. It invites us to see and think in new ways.
