Lawrence Flynn drew this silver tankard sometime in the twentieth century. Look at this image of a gleaming vessel, conjured with nothing more than the delicate dance of ink on paper! I can almost feel Flynn’s concentration as he meticulously mapped out each curve and contour. You can see how the clean, unbroken lines capture the cold, hard, reflective surface of the metal. It is almost like an act of alchemy, transforming the mundane into the magical. But why choose such an object? Was it the way light played across its surface, the challenge of capturing its form, or something else? Maybe Flynn saw something in this vessel that spoke to the broader human story of craft, ritual, and utility. Like all artists, Flynn was in conversation with those who came before him. Each mark a testament to the ongoing dialogue between artists across time and space. And so the story continues.
