The Model 

Georg Pauli created this painting, called "The Model," at an unknown date. Pauli was part of a generation of Swedish artists who studied in Paris and brought Impressionism back to Scandinavia. Here, the intimate scene challenges the traditional, often idealized, representations of the female nude. Instead, Pauli presents a more personal, vulnerable depiction of a woman, possibly a working model, in a moment of rest or preparation.
