Editor: So, this woodblock print, "Clear Weather After Snow at Ejiri" by Utagawa Hiroshige, gives me such a serene feeling, like a peaceful winter walk. What draws your eye when you look at this image? Curator: For me, it's the journey. Hiroshige invites us onto the Tōkaidō Road, doesn’t he? We become fellow travelers, pondering our place in the world, just as those figures trudge along that snowy path. Do you feel a connection with those figures, or are you more drawn to the landscape itself? Editor: I think the landscape draws me in more. It gives a sense of vastness. Curator: Exactly! Hiroshige captures the immense beauty and the humbling power of nature, making it personal. This scene asks us what "home" truly means when we're constantly on the move. Food for thought! Editor: I hadn’t thought about it that way. Thanks!
