The Madonna on a grassy bank 1526

Hans Springinklee's "The Madonna on a grassy bank" is a 1526 woodcut print depicting the Virgin Mary seated on a grassy bank with the Christ Child. Two angels kneel below Mary, while an older woman, possibly Saint Anne, stands behind her, holding a basket of fruit. The composition and style are reminiscent of Northern Renaissance engravings, showcasing a realistic depiction of the figures and their surroundings. The print’s small size suggests it may have been intended as a devotional image for private use. It is currently housed in the SMK - Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen.
