Wassily Kandinsky made this painting, Red Wall destiny, with oil on canvas. I imagine the artwork has come into being, shifting and emerging through trial, error, and intuition. Poor old Kandinsky, what was he thinking when he made this? You can sense him in the brushstrokes—the way he applied such vibrant colour. Look at how he dragged the paint to create these wonderful floral shapes and patterns, a language to express himself using colour and form. The thick layer of paint gives it texture and a sense of depth, doesn't it? The red wall slices through the painting in the centre, with these bulbous figures, with hints of Chagall. The palette is fairly limited, but each colour is singing. Painters, we're all in an ongoing conversation, inspiring each other's creativity. It’s a conversation that embraces ambiguity and uncertainty, allowing for multiple interpretations.
