Editor: So, this is an untitled photograph by Jack Gould, showing a boy with a wheelbarrow and a girl with a stroller outside what seems to be a school. It’s pretty stark, almost dreamlike. What do you see in this image? Curator: It's like a memory, slightly out of reach. The inverted tones give it a sense of unease, don’t they? The kids are performing adult roles, pushing and hauling, while the school looms in the background, perhaps symbolizing expectations. The tree feels like it is a watchful, silent guardian. Editor: That's interesting; I didn't think about them "performing." It gives me a new perspective. Curator: Perhaps Gould is hinting at the burdens children carry, even in innocence. What do you make of the open door? Editor: Maybe it's an invitation, or an escape? Thanks, I am seeing so much more than I did at first. Curator: Art is like that, isn't it? It changes with each look.
