Kmetty János made this drawing, Street View, using charcoal. I’m picturing him outside, balancing his paper on a board, squinting, and then looking again. He really digs in with the charcoal. I can almost feel that dusty, scratchy material moving across the page. Look at those bold strokes giving shape to the road and houses. There’s such confidence in his line! I bet he made a lot of studies. I’m thinking of artists like Giorgio Morandi or even Agnes Martin, who kept returning to similar subjects, like still lifes or grids, each time trying to see something new, something deeper. That dark patch in the foreground really pulls you in, doesn’t it? It’s like a little mystery. What’s hiding in there? For me, it's not about figuring everything out. It’s more about feeling the weight of the darks, the lightness of the sky, and letting my imagination wander a bit.
