This photograph of the Patio de las Muñecas, or Courtyard of the Dolls, was taken in the Royal Palace of Seville by Rafael Garzón. It's got this dreamy, sepia tone that makes you feel like you're stepping back in time, right? I’m thinking about Garzón, setting up his camera, probably a big, clunky thing, trying to capture the light just right in this ornate courtyard. Imagine him, squinting, adjusting, trying to frame the delicate latticework and the arches, hoping to catch some essence of the place. It's a real dance to capture what you want, a constant give and take. Those arches remind me of the work of other painters, where you're always trying to get somewhere. Just like a painter, Garzón's playing with light and shadow, trying to find the right balance, the perfect composition. It's all part of this big, ongoing conversation we artists have, across time and medium, feeding off each other, pushing each other to see the world in new ways.
