Camilla d'Errico made "Sightless" sometime in the 20th century, and it's a trip! The way the colors swirl around the head, like a psychedelic ice cream, makes you think about art as something you almost want to eat. D'Errico lays the paint on kinda thick, but then lets it drip down the canvas, a bit like a Jackson Pollock but way more controlled. I’m really drawn to how the black and white butterfly, the wings emblazoned with skull markings, covers the eyes. It makes you wonder about what we choose to see, and what we block out. It reminds me a bit of Frida Kahlo, with that mix of personal pain and wild imagination. Art’s not about answers, it’s about opening up the questions.
