Saar de Swart made "Toren 2" out of bronze, but when, exactly, is anyone’s guess! This sculpture is like a little monument to the process of making itself. Look at how the light catches the uneven surface, the bumpy texture, the green-ish patina over the dark metal. It's rough and tactile. You can almost feel the artist's hands shaping the clay before it was cast. The figure is crouched, leaning on what could be a pillar, or maybe just a geometric form. There's a quiet, contemplative mood in the way the figure bends their head. That sense of something solid supporting something soft reminds me of Rodin’s more figurative sculptures, but without all the drama. There’s a raw, personal feel to this piece, an intimate exploration of form and balance. It’s not about perfection; it’s about the journey.
