This little book, or "Snoer van rommel en schatten," was made by various makers. I love that, diverse hands contributing to this thing! The whole surface is swathed in a greenish textile with subtle floral patterning—tiny blossoms connected by delicate tendrils, almost like a field of wildflowers. See how the light catches the fabric? The pattern has a way of both revealing and concealing. It reminds me of how we use decoration to express ourselves, covering surfaces with patterns that might seem simple but hold a world of meaning. I’m thinking about the process of creating something like this and how, even in repetition, there’s room for individual expression. The floral pattern gives the book a friendly vibe. It’s amazing how the simplest gestures can evoke so much. The book as a whole becomes like a diary or a sketchbook, a record of its creators' thoughts and expressions.
