I guess Alfio Giuffrida created this work, called "The Original," at some point. I'm already asking myself, original to what? What's the origin story? It's wild! You’ve got the lower half of a mannequin sticking out of what looks like the hood of a stroller, raised high on a pole. The stroller's a bright, almost acidic yellow, and the legs are pale, almost ghostly. Giuffrida’s put together something that's at once familiar and totally bizarre. I wonder if he was thinking about childhood, or maybe how we put things on pedestals? Or maybe it’s just a big, beautiful, strange joke. Whatever it is, it makes you stop and think. It’s this weird combination of things that we recognise, but put together in a way that just throws you off balance. That is, until you realize what it’s doing—then you get back on your feet!
