The Adoration of the Kings [recto] c. 1600

This anonymous, black and white engraving titled *The Adoration of the Kings* depicts the biblical event in which the three wise men, Melchior, Caspar, and Balthazar, journey to Bethlehem to worship the newborn Jesus. This scene is framed by an architectural structure and depicts the three kings kneeling before Mary and the Christ child. The image is rendered with fine detail in the garments of the figures and is characteristic of the engravings of the early 17th century.
