This small, 3 cm diameter bronze medal commemorates the 12.5 year wedding anniversary of W.A.A. Poelman and H.S. Alewijn in 1822. The obverse features a wreath with the inscription "GEVIERD TER GEDACHTENIS VAN DE TWELF EN HALVEN JARE HUWELIJK". The reverse side bears the names of the couple and the date of the celebration. This is a great example of a commemorative medal, which was a popular form of art in the 19th century.
