Léon Bakst made this set design for Scheherazade with paint and a whole lotta imagination. The process seems like a mad dash of color and form. It's like Bakst threw a party and all the colors showed up ready to dance! The texture is so rich, you can almost feel the velvet curtains and the plush carpets. And that green, wow, that green is electric against the deep reds and blues. Look at the way he's dabbed those pink dots onto the green canopy. They're like little explosions of joy, totally transforming the fabric into something wild and alive. It's like he's not just painting a set, but conjuring an entire world, right there on the canvas. I think of Matisse, maybe, with that love of color and pattern. Both artists teach us to embrace the chaos and find the beauty in the mix. It's not about perfection, it's about feeling.
