De heilige familie met Johannes de Doper 1633 - 1672

This etching titled “De heilige familie met Johannes de Doper” (The Holy Family with John the Baptist) was created between 1633 and 1672 by Dutch artist Willem Basse. The composition depicts a traditional depiction of the Virgin Mary, Joseph, the baby Jesus, and John the Baptist. The figures are arranged within an arched opening, with the Virgin and Child in the center and Joseph and John the Baptist flanking them on either side. Basse’s print is a fine example of the Dutch Baroque style.
