Dick Ket made this letter to Mien Cambier van Nooten, with ink on paper, and it’s just teeming with language. The marks are like thoughts scribbled right onto the page, all these swirling lines and loops creating a texture that's both dense and airy. Looking closer, I see how the ink varies in thickness, creating a sense of rhythm, like a musical score. There’s something raw and immediate about the handwriting, the pen dancing across the page. I love the way certain words stand out, emphasized with a heavier line, while others fade into the background, like whispers. This kind of all-over composition is something you also see in the work of Cy Twombly. There's an energy here, a sense of urgency, that really grabs me. I see art as an ongoing conversation, full of echoes and resonances, always open to new interpretations.
