This is a picture of Gezicht op Slot Moermond te Renesse by an anonymous artist from Monumentenzorg. It's a black and white photograph and looks like it was taken a long time ago. I can imagine what it would be like to stand in front of this building today. It must have been a special building. I wonder what the photographer was thinking when they made this image? Maybe they were excited to capture the castle’s architectural details, the ivy climbing up the walls, the geometry of the brickwork, or to show a specific quality of light? I like how the bare branches of the tree on the right mirror the angles of the castle, and the way the photographer tried to give a sense of space with the background trees. We’ll never know who took this photograph, but they have inspired me to think about how we frame the world around us. I hope it inspires you too!
