Editor: Here we have Gordon House’s “Arc A.” Its date is unknown, and it resides in the Tate Collection. The use of rigid geometry creates an interesting visual tension. What story do you think the artist is trying to tell? Curator: Story? Perhaps a visual poem! For me, it's less about narrative and more about pure sensation. The cool detachment of the lines and the warm embrace of the colours dance together like old friends. And those lines, do they remind you a little bit of cityscapes? Editor: I suppose I can see the cityscapes, now that you point it out. Curator: Precisely! It makes you wonder what else lies beneath the surface doesn't it? Editor: Yeah, I'll need to give this work a second look now.
