"The Crisis" by Romanian artist Sabin Balasa (1932-2008) depicts a stark and surreal landscape. The foreground features a cracked, barren earth, symbolic of a desolate and perhaps dying world. Four bulls, their heads and necks protruding from a vertical slab of rock, gaze outwards with a sense of anxiety. This unsettling composition, with its distorted perspective and unsettling imagery, creates a sense of foreboding and invites contemplation of the impending "crisis" alluded to in the title. The work may be interpreted as a commentary on environmental degradation or the precarious state of humanity.
