Editor: Here we have John Flaxman's "Nausicaa Throwing the Ball," currently held in the Tate Collections. It’s a delicate linear composition…almost like a memory. What’s your take on it? Curator: It’s a reverie, isn't it? Flaxman distills Homer into pure, elegant line. Notice how the figures seem to float, almost disembodied, caught in a timeless game. Does it remind you of anything? Perhaps a frieze? It’s Neoclassicism at its most serene, wouldn't you agree? Editor: Yes, definitely a frieze, but with a ghostly quality! Thanks for the insight. Curator: My pleasure. A dance of lines and legends, forever caught in the artist’s eye.
