This silver ducaton was salvaged from the wreckage of the Dutch East India Company ship "Vliegend Hart", which sank in 1729. The coin was minted between 1729 and 1734, featuring a crowned equestrian portrait on the obverse and the coat of arms of the Dutch Republic on the reverse. Now housed in the Rijksmuseum, this coin is a testament to the Dutch Golden Age, when trade routes stretched across the globe and its currency was a vital part of international commerce.
