Owen Gent's "Revisions" invites us down a shadowed alley, crafted with an eye for the geometry of urban space. The ochre ground throws up a muted light, playing against the somber walls, and is cut through with that strange turquoise and red zig zag. It’s a bit like David Hockney meets Giorgio de Chirico. The paint seems applied in thin layers, almost translucent, allowing the textures of the surface beneath to peek through, giving a sense of depth and history, as if the walls have absorbed the stories of countless passersby. Look at how the light catches the edges of the buildings, the sharp delineation between light and shadow, creating a silent drama. It’s these little moments, the dance of light and form, that draw me in. This piece reminds me that art is often about seeing the world anew, finding beauty in the unexpected corners of our everyday lives.
