Editor: Sanford Robinson Gifford painted "Leander's Tower on the Bosporus," and the way the scene glows makes me feel so calm. What do you see in it? Curator: It whispers tales of the Orient, doesn't it? Gifford, like a firefly, was drawn to the luminosity of the East. I wonder, did he chase the light, or did the light chase him? Editor: That's beautifully put. I hadn't considered the light as a character. Curator: Perhaps it's the main one, influencing mood and mystery. It makes me want to set sail to Istanbul! Editor: I'll join you, if only to see if the light truly is the main character!
