This photograph, “Portret van een onbekende man met snor”, is a studio portrait by Dutch photographer Adolphe Zimmermans, taken between 1886 and 1913. It depicts a man wearing a jacket and a mustache. The image is small, measuring just 105 mm by 65 mm, and is currently on display at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Zimmermans was a well-known photographer in The Hague, his signature can be seen at the bottom of the print. The photograph captures the somber and formal style that was popular in 19th century portraiture.
