This is a page from "Meesterwerken van Seiho - deel twee" by Takeuchi Seihô, but we don't know exactly when it was made or with what, which is actually pretty freeing. What I love about this piece is how the stripes make you think about process. It’s all about the rhythm of repetition, right? Each line laid down, one after the other. I imagine the artist being in a kind of meditative state. But then, look at how the colors shift: the olives, grays, and creams blend together. It's not a perfect grid. The soft, slightly imperfect lines give a handmade feel. That central strip of text throws everything off, making the whole thing sing. It's not just decoration, it's a conversation between order and chaos, control and accident. It reminds me of Agnes Martin, but with an Eastern twist. It’s quiet but there’s a lot going on.
