Soltan Soltanlı painted these trees on a windy day, sometime around 2018. I can almost feel the brushstrokes of that yellow, like the field is breathing, right? It's funny to think about what Soltanlı was feeling when he made this. Was he battling the wind himself, trying to capture that exact moment of movement, or just imagining it all in his studio? It’s not super thick paint, but it is applied so consistently; it’s like each blade of grass is there on purpose. There's something so hopeful about the scene he's created. Those trees really are something. They're all leaning in the same direction, like they're gossiping or maybe bowing down. Each one is unique, but together they create this amazing sense of rhythm, like they're dancing. You can really see how artists build on each other, always finding new ways to show us what it feels like to be alive.
