Soltan Soltanlı made this oil painting, “Windy Day,” sometime around 2018, and it's a trip! The way he layers the greens and yellows, it feels like you can almost feel the breeze rustling through the trees and grass. The paint is applied in these tiny strokes, almost like a pointillist painting. This gives the surface a vibrant, flickering quality. It's not about hiding the brushstrokes, it's about celebrating them. I love the way the shadows stretch out, distorted by the wind, like playful reflections. The composition is so simple, just trees, grass, and sky, but it's also so dynamic. It almost reminds me of Van Gogh, who found ways to animate the landscape through brushstroke. Soltanlı invites us to see the world not as a static image, but as a constantly shifting, vibrating experience. It’s like he's saying, "Hey, let's not take things too seriously, let's find the joy in the chaos." And that's something I can definitely get behind.
