Engelen zorgen voor Christus 1629

This 1629 woodcut by Christoffel van Sichem, titled *Engelen zorgen voor Christus*, depicts a scene from the Bible, where angels are serving Christ. The detail in the angels' wings, their flowing robes, and the scene of Christ eating a meal with angels surrounding him, are rendered with exquisite detail using the hatching and cross-hatching techniques of the woodcutting process. This work is part of the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The scene is interpreted as a depiction of the Last Supper or of the Communion of the Saints.
