Paul Klee made this little drawing, Comic Rider, with pen and ink. Just look at that one continuous line that makes up the horse's back and the rider's spine – that’s confidence right there! I think Klee was imagining a figure, maybe from a folktale, who's a little bit absurd, a little bit awkward, but totally endearing. And the simple, almost childlike quality of the drawing is so Klee! It’s like he’s inviting us to see the world with fresh eyes, to find humor and beauty in the most unexpected places. Klee's work always reminds me that painting isn't about perfection or precision. It’s about play, experimentation, and embracing the unexpected. I find that very inspiring, and it makes me want to pick up a pen and start doodling. It’s like he’s saying, "Hey, don’t take yourself too seriously. Just have fun and see where the line takes you."
