Editor: Here we have an Untitled painting by Tiberiy Szilvashi. The dark hues, pierced by that striking orange line, feel…almost ominous. How do you interpret this work? Curator: The darkness definitely holds a presence. It's a depth, almost a void, evoking a primordial space. That stark horizon line of orange – think of it as an arterial burst across that darkness. It isn't simply color, it becomes a symbolic assertion of life, or perhaps more precisely, vitality. Consider what orange signifies in various cultures—energy, harvest, the sun, and also warning. Which of those resonates most for you? Editor: Warning…yes, maybe that line is warning us about the unknown of the dark. Do you think it is important that the piece is untitled? Curator: Absolutely. Without a title, the artist actively resists pinning down a single meaning, opening the work to broader interpretations. It’s less a landscape and more a symbol of psychic space, wouldn't you say? That tension between the encompassing dark and the vibrant line – isn’t that, in a sense, the essence of consciousness itself, the constant negotiation between the known and the unknown? Editor: I never thought of it that way, but now that you point it out, the tension is the whole piece! I am interested to explore the symbolic vocabulary the artist may be using. Curator: Indeed, that’s often where the most exciting discoveries are made. I learned that you appreciate that this artwork embodies that concept. Editor: Me too, thank you!
