Jeremy Moon created ‘Green Sound’ with paint and canvas, but the date of its creation is unknown. It’s all about how colours behave, how they sit next to each other. You can almost see Moon figuring it out as he went along. The surface is smooth, but up close, you can see the texture of the canvas coming through the paint. The yellow section is massive and feels heavy, it sort of pushes those other colours up towards the top corner. It makes me think of Rothko and his colour fields, but with a sharp, geometric twist. There’s something almost musical about those greens and blues, like chords building in intensity. It’s like Moon is tuning into the colour itself, trying to find harmony and discord all at once. It makes me think of Bridget Riley, how she also knew how to make colour sing. Art is just one big conversation, isn’t it? Always asking questions, never quite settling on an answer.
