Rose Freymuth-Frazier made this painting, using oils, and called it "Red Clouds". I think she lets the colours do all the talking. There's this warm glow about it, like the whole scene is being lit from within. The texture is something else, too. You can almost feel the way the paint moves across the canvas, thick in some places, thin in others, creating this really tactile surface. I'm drawn to the way she's handled the edges of the trees against the sky. They're not sharp or defined, but soft and blurred, like they're dissolving into the light. It gives the whole painting this dreamy, ethereal quality, like you're not quite sure what you're seeing, but you know it's beautiful. It reminds me a little of Turner, maybe, with its emphasis on atmosphere and light. But Freymuth-Frazier has her own distinct voice, a way of capturing the feeling of a place rather than just its appearance. It feels like the kind of painting that invites you to linger, to lose yourself in its depths, and to find something new each time you look at it.
