Editor: This is a coin, or rather, a possible imitation of a coin, and it's attributed to Andronikos I. It seems incredibly worn, but you can still make out figures. What jumps out at you when you look at this? Curator: Well, it whispers stories of power and imitation. Think of it – someone, somewhere, so impressed by the Emperor’s coin they felt compelled to make their own, a shadow currency, almost a fan art of its time. The weight of 2.29 grams, I imagine, was worth more than mere metal, wasn't it? Editor: Definitely food for thought. Thanks for sharing your insights! Curator: My pleasure. It's pieces like these that remind us art isn't always about perfection, but about connection.
