Editor: Here we have an untitled photograph by John L. Dunmore depicting a Greenland glacier. I’m struck by the imposing scale and the stark contrast between the bright ice and the dark, brooding sky. What story do you think this image is trying to tell? Curator: It whispers of time, doesn't it? The glacier, a frozen river flowing imperceptibly, but relentlessly shaping the land. I see a monument to the raw power of nature. Do you feel a sense of vulnerability looking at it? Knowing something so immense and ancient is slowly melting? Editor: I do. It's beautiful, but also a bit terrifying. It makes you feel small. I hadn't thought of it that way. Thanks for the insight! Curator: My pleasure! It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it? Now I'm wondering where Dunmore was standing when he took the photo.
