Editor: This is Lovis Corinth’s "Male Nude," an etching—part of a portfolio. It feels heavy, burdened, almost like he's carrying the weight of the world. What do you make of it? Curator: Burdened, yes, but also, for me, profoundly human. Look at the lines; they're not just describing form, they're conveying something… raw. The hatching feels almost violent, wouldn't you say? There’s a truth here, isn’t there? Editor: I do see that rawness, the almost frantic energy in the lines. I hadn't thought about the violence of the hatching, though. Curator: Perhaps ‘intensity’ is a better word than violence, wouldn't you say? It's a glimpse into Corinth's soul, a reflection of inner turmoil. And maybe our own, too. Editor: I think you're right. It definitely leaves you with something to think about. Curator: Indeed. It's a vulnerability laid bare, inviting us to confront our own humanity.
