Here we have a portrait, called ‘Portret van Vido’, made with photography, by an anonymous artist. Isn't it interesting how a simple black and white photo can hold so much? Look at Vido's eyes, they're so direct, unguarded. It feels like the photographer wasn't trying to pose him or pretty him up. There's a realness to it, like a snapshot of a fleeting moment. The way the light catches his face, the texture of his hair, it all feels so immediate and raw. It reminds me a bit of some of the early street photography, that search for authenticity, for capturing life as it is. You see it in someone like Lisette Model, that same unflinching gaze. It's like the photographer's saying, "Here, look at this person, just as they are." No frills, no fancy lighting, just Vido. And that's what makes it so powerful.
