Sunset on the Moor 

Thomas Moran created "Sunset on the Moor" using watercolor in 1880, a period when landscape painting was deeply intertwined with notions of national identity and romanticism. Moran, an Anglo-American artist, often depicted idealized views of the American West. Here, instead of the American West, we see the British Isles, the origin from which he emigrated as a child.
