The architectural elements, like the baptismal font, organize the figures within the octagonal space. Look how the use of line and color is arranged. The rigid lines of the architectural setting contrast with the soft curves of the figures, creating a dynamic tension. The font, decorated with grotesque masks, grounds the scene. It contrasts with the ethereal quality of the figures and delicate architectural rendering. This juxtaposition destabilizes the conventional meanings of sacred space by integrating elements of both beauty and the grotesque.
